Bio for Caroline Beetz Fenske, PhD, Principal Economist/Writer
Caroline Beetz Fenske has a PhD in economics from Northeastern University and a B.A. in economics from the University of Connecticut. She also has a Professional Certificate in Editing from UC, Berkeley.
Caroline is owner and principal economist / writer with EconWriter International. In this role, she assists economists and professors in economics and related fields with writing and research and acts as an advisor on economic policy. Additionally, she helps PhD students in economics by editing their dissertations, in collaboration with their research advisors.
Formerly, Caroline was a research economist and country economist with the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington, D.C.., where she conducted research, reported on macroeconomic conditions, and worked on projects in Latin America and the Caribbean. Prior to that, she worked for Hewlett Packard in marketing and finance, with responsibility for business forecasting and analysis of economic and computer industry trends. Early in her career, she was a broker sales assistant for the top trader in the Boston office of Shearson Lehman Brothers.
She has taught economics and statistics courses at Bentley University and Northeastern University. Also, Caroline was a visiting faculty member with the University of Pittsburgh’s Semester at Sea program.
Caroline Beetz Fenske’s research and publications have focused on macroeconomics, economic development, international trade, monetary policy and financial markets, and labor markets.
Bio for Zethyn McKinley, Associate Editor
Zethyn McKinley has extensive quantitative and qualitative research and writing education. She has a Master’s Degree in International Relations (University of Warwick, UK) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics (CSU, Fresno). Plus she has a Professional Certificate in Editing (UC, Berkeley).
She started her professional career working as a data quality analyst, improving Department of Defense data allowing servicemen and women and their families to get medical benefits. Following that she worked as an economist, collecting data following the MC 252 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. She has 13 years of experience in the publishing industry, with over 10 years in editing, specializing in business and social sciences—everything from economics and political science to business and marketing reports and materials.
Zethyn’s research has focused on globalization and international development, with increasing emphasis on technology’s role in global changes, based on her time working with startups in Silicon Valley.
